This species shows its relationship with the group of P. ceratantha Standi, and P. cuspidata Bredem. ex R. & S. in the possession of the spurred tips of the corolla lobes. It has a similarly denticulate calyx as in P. ceratantha. It is well-marked by the completely sessile flowers, simple unbranched inflorescence or with only two very short lateral axes, glabrous hypanthium, few-flowered, capitate inflorescence, and glabrous or merely slightly papillate outer corolla surface.
