    Psychotria bahiensis M.-Arg., FI. Bras. 6(5): 338. 1881.

Ronabea didymocarpos A. Rich., Mem. Soc. Hist. Nat. Paris 5: 170. Dec 1830.

I am taking up the name Psychotria bahiensis DC., published in September, 1830, instead of Ronabea didymocarpos Rich., which actually was published three months later in December, 1830. According to Taxonomic Literature by Lanjouw (p. 392) the true publication date of Richard’s Mémoire sur la famille des Rubiacées is December, 1830 (it was pre-printed with the title-page dated July 1829 and the preface dated 1 Dec 1830 sic), while independent pagination of the Mémoires de la Société d’Histoire naturelle de Paris, vol. 5: 81-304 was published as of June, 1834. Although Richard’s Ronabea didymocarpos was preprinted with the title page date of July, 1829, it was not actually published until December, 1830, and not until 1834 in the Memoires de la Société d’Histoire naturelle de Paris. However, de Candolle in September, 1830, published Richard’s name as Ronabea (?) didymocarpos, citing as his reference the Richard publication of the Memoires. Still, no actual publication was effectively made until December, 1830, three months after de Candolle’s volume 4 of the Prodromus.
