Wernham describes this species as tetramerous, but an examination of the type collection shows that the flowers are pentameous. Although the inflorescence is described by Wernham as 11 cm long, the type collection measures to 14.5 cm in length, 9 cm wide in the lower half and 3.5 cm wide in the uppermost part.
