Discussion
Type. Cahuapanas, on Río Pichis, Dept. Junin, Peru, alt 340 m, 20-21 Jul 1929, E. P. Killip & A. C. Smith 26780 (holotype NY, isotype US).
In this variety, the leaves average relatively broader with respect to the length of the leaf blades, giving a more ovate-suborbicular appearance, and the stipules are relatively longer, those of var cordifolia varying from 2-3.5 × 1.8-2.5 mm, whereas in var peruviana the dimensions are 3.5-6 × 3-5 mm.
