  • Discussion

Type. British Guiana. Rich. Schomburgk 739.

The specimen from British Guiana most closely matching the original one collected is Harrison 1357. This shows the leaf blades obtuse at apex and with both surfaces glabrous, only the midrib and lateral nerves beneath sparsely short strigillose. Although the original description states the corolla “subduplo breviore extus subglabra,” the photograph of the type specimen at B (Rich. Schomburgk 739) shows the corolla tube in bud covered with a dense grayish-white strigose or sericeous-strigose pubescence. The Harrison 1357 has the exterior of the corolla tube moderately strigose.
