Discussion:

Ferdinandusa pubescens Wedd., Ann. Sci. Nat. IV 1: 78. 1854.

Weddell based this taxon with leaves “subtus in costa et venis molliter pilosulo-pubescentibus” and with the inflorescence branches “praeter basim pilosulam” on Weddell 2535, collected “inter urbes Patrocinho et Goyaz Brasiliae mediae.” The following collections of Dr. Irwin et al from Brazil substantially broaden the distribution of the pubescent form.
