Except for the smaller size of the corollas, this taxon can be considered only a small-flowered variation of R. densiflora subsp densiflora. The glabrous interior of the calyx lobes distinguishes it from var densiflora f densiflora, while the shorter corolla length separates it from f glabricalyx.
