Type. Sierra Ichun, a lo largo del Río Ichun (tributario del Río Paragua), 4° 46' N, 63° 18' W, alt 625-725 m, 27 Dec 1961, Bolívar, Venezuela, Julian A. Steyermark 90269 (holotype VEN).

Except for the smaller size of the corollas, this taxon can be considered only a small-flowered variation of R. densiflora subsp densiflora. The glabrous interior of the calyx lobes distinguishes it from var densiflora f densiflora, while the shorter corolla length separates it from f glabricalyx.
