Although R. duckei and R. asperula are very similar in general aspect, they show the following differences: the calyx tube is shorter in R. asperula and equally lobed, not spathaceous or split on one side as in R. duckei; in R. asperula the peduncle and rachis are loosely villosulous with curving crisp hairs, in R. duckei the pubescence of these parts is appressed-strigillose; in R. asperula the midnerve beneath of the leaf blade is densely hirsutulous with spreading hairs, in R. duckei densely strigillose; in R. asperula the midrib above is hirtellous to hirsutulous, whereas in R. duckei it is glabrous; finally, in R. asperula the stipule is densely hirsutulous-villous with loose hairs, whereas in R. duckei the pubescence of this part is more appressed or strigose-pilosulous.
