Scientific Name:Manettia coccinea Crantz

Nacibea coccinea Aubl., Pl. Guian. 96. pi. 37, f. 1. 1775.

Type. Ad ripam amnis Galibiensium, French Guiana, Aublet.

Aublet described his Nacibea coccinea as having the calyx 8-lobed, the leaves glabrous, and the orifice of the corolla tube yellow-bearded, although his plate 37, fig. 1 does not show any yellow-haired orifice.

Except for the prevailing number of four calyx lobes, M. spraguei Wernh. cannot be separated from M. coccinea, and I am retaining it as a variety of M. coccinea. Some specimens referred to M. spraguei have 5-6 calyx lobes.
