Quapoya littoralis (Poeppig) Planchon & Triana, Ann. Sci. Nat. IV. Bot. 14: 238. 1860.

Type. In literalibus flum. ParĂ¡ ad Colares, Majo 1832, Edward Poeppig D2972 (holotype W).

It is with reluctance that I retain the name Renggeria littoralis. The leaves of the holotype are consistent with those of the series of R. comans, cited under that name. The habitat and the general geography are consistent with that of R. comans. The flowers are similar superficially but are hermaphroditic, and the stamens are 20. Evidence is being sought from the field to determine if more specimens of hermaphroditic character may be found, and if so, how they may relate to possible dioecious elements.
