  • Discussion

Type. Cerro de Cupatí, Río Japurá (Caqueta), Colombia, 27 Nov 1912, A. Ducke 12315 (isotype US).

Kobuski (1948) relates B. holostyla to B. paniculata, an interpretation with which I concur. The single isotype (US) specimen available to me most certainly does present leaves of the character of B. paniculata. However, the peduncles of the Ducke specimen are not compressed. In such scanty and inadequate material this alone may not prevent its alignment with B. paniculata. But, further, the anthers (non-pollen-bearing) of the single open flower are rather strongly papillate-muricate, a feature not seen elsewhere in Bonnetia. It may be best to hold in abeyance a more definite assignment for this collection and the binomial attached to it.
