Description
Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. Confined to the maritime regions of Bahía and Rio de Janeiro and probably also of Espirito Santo. BRAZIL. Bahía: restinga no campo de aviação de Caravelas, sul da Bahía, 2 Sep 1949, Bertha Lutz (NY); shrub 50 cm tall, calyx green, corolla with white base and rose tips, Itabuna, 14 Jul 1964, Silva 58392 (NY, IAN). Rio de Janeiro: in paludosis, arenosis prope Rio de Janeiro, Schott 4447 (NY, W); dominante nos brejos turfosos arbustivos e arboreos, District of Barrada de São João, Restinga, I, 5 Sep 1953, Segadas-Vianna et al 969 (NY, R); no brejo de mato da restinga, Barra de São João, Restinga I, 7 Sep 1953, Segadas-Vianna et al 993 (NY, R).
