Description:Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. VENEZUELA. Amazonas: Cerro de la Neblina, Río Yatua, on huge boulder, occasional in rain forest SE of Base Camp, alt 140 m, 14 Dec 1953, Maguire, Wurdack & Bunting 36794; same locality, fruit green, frequent in forest between Camps 3 and 4, alt 1100 m, 10 Nov 1957, Maguire, Wurdack & Maguire 42021. Bolívar: cloud forest on summit of southeast-facing escarpment, east of Cerro El Picacho, N of Las Nieves and Las Chicharras, 45 km N of Tumeremo, vicinity of Deborah, Altiplanicie de Nuria, vicinity of lake-like area, terrestrial, leaves in clump, plaited, grass green above, pale green below, alt 600-650 m, 5-8 Feb 1961, Steyermark 89160. BRITISH GUIANA. Upper Mazaruni River Basin, Ayanganna Plateau, frequent on rocks, mixed evergreen forest, at base of talus along NE side, leaves dark green above, lighter beneath, fruit mature, old perianth dark green, stigmas black, both falling easily, seeds yellow, alt 800-900'm, 1 Aug 1960, Tillett & Tillett 44979.The first records for Venezuela. Hitherto known only from British Guiana and Suriname.
