Description
Distribution and Ecology - Distribution. SURINAME. Nassau Mountains, Marowijne River, epiphyte, bracts white, fruit green, frequent in ferro-bauxite forest, alt ca 550 m, 1-3 Jan 1955, Maguire, Cowan & Lindeman 39055 and 39107; Nassau Mountains, climbing epiphyte, alt ca 525 m, 28 Feb and 12 Mar 1955, Maguire 40714 and 40795. BRAZIL. Territorio Amapá: Rio Oiapoque, first cachoeira on Rio Iaue, 2°53'N, 52°22'W, 0.5 km east of confluence with Rio Oiapoque, leaf-bases succulent, the petiolar portion pinkish-brown, inflorescence axis and flowers light rose, attached to rocks in rushing water, 22 Aug 1960, Egler & Pires 47725.The first records for Suriname. Hitherto known only from French Guiana and Brazil (Para).
