  • Discussion

Type. Appun 1411, Guayana, Mt. Roraima (K).

Plants of the Guayana Highland once were considered to be conspecific with Andean populations. This conclusion was drawn from a comparison of rather fragmentary material by Burret. However, a study of more material reveals a few differences which seem to justify the restoration of Geonoma appuniana inclusive of G. roraimae Dammer described from Ule 8805.
