The occurrence of this species in Venezuela has been doubtful. The two specimens cited above now make a documentation of R. micrantha for the flora of Venezuela. In Brazil, especially in coastal localities, R. micrantha may bear somewhat contracted inflorescences. This form has been described as Haloschoenus contractus Nees, but is merely an ecological condition.
