Known only from several localities in eastern Venezuela and adjoining foothills of the Roraima Mountain Range in northern Rio Branco and Roraima territories of Brazilian Amazonia and southern Guyana. Discussion:

Rhynchospora baileyi Britton ex L. H. Bailey, Gentes Herbarum 2: 200, f. 103. 1930. Type. L. H. Bailey & Ethel Z. Bailey 1372 (NY) from Ciudad Bolívar and vicinity (Mariqueta), on the Orinoco, Bolivar, Venezuela. Syn nov.

Type. Ule 8369 (B) from Surumu in der Serra de Mairary, 1200 m alt, Rio Branco, Amazonas, Brazil.

Examination of type specimens showed that Rhynchospora baileyi from Ciudad Bolivar of Venezuela is identical with R. albo-marginata from Brazilian Rio Branco. The specimens cited above mark the range extensions of this species into Guayana and Brazilian Territory of Roraima.
