Epiphytic or occasionally epipetric, usually above 1000 m altitude.Guayana Highland distribution. SURINAME. Tafelberg, N escarpment between Augustus and North Ridge Creeks, Maguire 24188 (NY, US), S base cliffs, Arrowhead Basin, alt 625 m, Maguire 24463 (NY, US). VENEZUELA. Bolívar: Cerro Venamo, between the base of the principal, steep, sandstone slope and the falls of the Río Venamo, alt 1220-1275 m, Steyermark, Dunsterville, & Dunsterville 92734 (US). Amazonas: Cerro Huachamacari, Río Cunucunuma, Maguire, Cowan & Wurdack 29844 (F, NY, US).

Discussion:

Type. Colombia, Prov. Ocana, Schlim 611 (P not seen).

This species is predominantly epipetric, but only so in the Highland area.
