Discussion:

A highly variable species26 distributed over much of northern South America but not previously reported from the two respective territories. Wurdack & Monachino 39587 and Tate 243 (Mt. Roraima, Arabupu), each consisting in part of a vigorous sterile branch, clearly show the presence of pectinate stipules 18-22 mm long. The former collection also includes two seedlings which differ markedly in character from the juvenile material referred to by Dwyer (Forest Dept. of British Guiana s.n.?) as having simple leaves with petioles 8 cm long. The present material, in which one plant is 20 cm long including root, the other 130 cm long, has 3-7-jugate leaves, petioles less than 2 cm long, and the leaflets strongly reduced basipetally.
