Family:Mimosaceae
Scientific Name:Parkia velutina Benoist
Description:Distribution and Ecology - -BRAZIL. Amapa: Rio Oiapoque, Irwin, Pires & Westra 48629; Rio Araguari, Pires, Rodrigues, & Irvine 51584; Para: Km. 105, Belem-Brasilia Highway, Maguire & Pires 56056.

Discussion:

Although this species was previously recorded from Amapa (Froes 26732), the present collections further extend its range in that territory. Maguire & Pires 56056 is a first report for Para. It should also be pointed out that Abraham 184 (British Guiana, Berbice or Demerara Co., along the Berbice-Rupununi cattle trail) is referable here and constitutes a first report for British Guiana. Further, and the fragmentary state of the New York material notwithstanding, it appears that Klug 2308 (Peru, Dept. Loreto, Rio Putumayo) is also of this species
