Description
Distribution and Ecology - Tree with branchlets conspicuously angled and covered with fine but dense yellowish or fulvous tomentellous pubescence, bearing large, full-flowered inflorescences in the axils of usually elliptic, membranous leaves, occurring in the Guianas.BRITISH GUIANA. Upper Mazaruni River Basin, frequent along Utschi River in mixed-evergreen forest, between Utschi Falls and mouth, Stephen S. & Carolyn L. Tillett 45768 (fl. NY); Kako River, E arm of Karowtipu, 45584 (fl. NY).

Discussion
Types. “In Guyana batava ad ripas fluminis Siparawini, Kappler n. 2076” (syntype, fl. P; photo. NY)
Mez (in Urban’s Symb. Ant. 2: 251. 1900) includes Trinidad in the range of distribution. A discussion of this, including the specimens he cites, appears under Nectandra kaburiensis Kostermans.
