Description
Distribution and Ecology - Shrub or tree to 12 m striking because of its large (25-30 cm X 7-10 cm) leaves, loosely reticulate throughout, shining above, and numerous axillary and subterminal inflorescences densely flowered, later becoming conspicuous with fruits 10 x 7 mm, the lower third encased in a snugly fitting, more or less rugulose cupule. Reported from forests along the Rio Negro and Amazon Rivers in upper Amazonas and Para, Brazil.BRAZIL. Rondonia: frequent, Porto Velho, Bassett Maguire, J. M. Pires, Celia K. Maguire & Nilo T.
