Authority: Allen, Caroline K. 1966. Contributions to the botany of Guiana. II. Lauraceae. Mem. New York Bot. Gard. 15: 53-95.
Description:Distribution and Ecology - A little-collected species of Endlicheria from the Guianas, similar to E. anomala, but with usually larger leaves, rusty-tomentellous beneath, instead of sericeous, and with quite different floral characters.BRITISH GUIANA. Upper Mazaruni River Basin, infrequent (?) in mixed-evergreen forest, with indefinite fluvial forest along Kamarang River, W. bank, above Utschi mouth, Stephen S. & Carolyn L. Tillett 45789 (male fl.. NY) .

Type. French Guiana. Melinon 605 (holotype, female fl. P; photo. NY).

The staminate flowers, the only ones seen at the present time, bear stamens of the two outer cycles similar to those found in the genus Aniba; the aborted ovary and the characteristic vegetative structures, however, overbalance these and for the present the above-cited specimen is placed in Endlicheria. Fruits not yet recognized as belonging to this taxa will undoubtedly complete the picture when further collections are made in the area.
