Description
Species Description - Blades yellow-green, bipinnate at base, the lower pinnae with 4-6 pairs of free pinnules, these subrectangular or obovate, coarsely dentate at apex, with 4-8 blunt teeth, the lowest pinnule sometimes with a superior auricle.
Distribution and Ecology - West Indies; Mexico to Peru; in Venezuela in the states of Distrito Federal, Aragua, Zulia, Lara, and probably elsewhere, at elevations from 1000 to 2745 m. This variety has as yet not been found in the Highlands, but is to be expected. It differs from var. radicans in having the lowest pinnules cuneate at base and not at all adnate, and also coarsely dentate at apex.
