Asplenium foeniculaceum H.B.K., Nov. Gen. & Sp. 1: 15. 1815. Type: “Crescit in umbrosis Novae Andalusiae, locis temperatis," Humboldt & Bonpland (holotype P. photograph 3312: isotypes, Herb. Willdenow 19860, 19925, B, photographs by Tryon, US) . The last cited specimen bears the name A. quitense, evidently an unpublished name of Willdenow, withdrawn in favor of A. foeniculaceum.
