    Distribution and Ecology - BRAZIL. Rio Branco: Serra Tepequem, northeast slopes, 850 m alt., infrequent epiphyte at edge of woodland, flowers yellow marked with bronze, November 22, 1954, B. Maguire & C. K. Maguire 40021. BRITISH GUIANA. Western extremity of Kanuku Mountains, in drainage of Takutu River, 200 m alt., epiphyte in dense forest, flowers yellowish white mottled with purple-brown, lip pale yellow mottled near the base, March 4-22, 1938, A. C. Smith 3319. VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Rio Orinoco, 80-90 m alt., along rocky outcrops of Isla Sta. Elena, opposite mouth of Rio Pargueni, occasional on low tree trunk, flowers yellow with brownish spots, December 13, 1955, J. J. Wurdack & J. V. Monachino 39852. Amazonas: Great Rapids of the Orinoco, locally frequent at Raudal de Atures (10 km south of Pto. Ayacucho), 100-120 m alt., leaves subterete and grooved above, up to 0.5 m long, flowers yellow heavily dotted with red-brown, lip bright yellow spotted with red-brown between the lateral lobes, "galeate cover over stamen suffused brown," November 10, 1953, B. Maguire, J. J. Wurdack & G. S. Bunting 36131. A common and variable species extending from the West Indies and MEXICO (type of Oncidium longifolium) through Central America and in South America from COLOMBIA (type of Epidendrum Cebolleta) south to PARAGUAY and ARGENTINA.
