Description:Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Rio Icabarii, in open forest on banks of first rapids below confluence of Río Uaiparú, G. C. K. Dunsterville 411; vecindades de Km 125 al Sur de El Dorado, sobre arenisca, 1155 m alt., epiphyte, sepals tawny. lip magenta-tawny with yellowish margins, column cream-colored, December 25. 1963, J. A. Steyermark & G. C. A. Dunsterville 92205 (this determination is probable only, as no lip was found). Amazonas: Rios Pacimoni-Yatua, Casiquiare, along uppermost Rio Yatua, 100-140 m alt., epiphyte on branch in flooded forests, flowers brownish yellow, lip with fine brown speckling, December 12, 1953, B. Maguire, J. J. Wurdack & G. S. Bunting 36750. A very widespread and variable species extending from the "West Indies (TRINIDAD, type) through northern South America to PERU and BRAZIL.
