    Distribution and Ecology - COLOMBIA. Vaupes: Along Rio Kuduyari, near Mitú, on trees in area flooded by 10 ft of water, August 12, 1960, L. A. Garay 100. VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Rio Carrao, about 492 m alt., in light forest on island, G. C. K. Dunsterville 357; Cerro Guaiquinima, Rio Pardgua, Raudal Guaiquinima, 200 m alt., infrequent epiphyte in riverine forest at Base Camp, sepals yellow-brown bronzed on back, petals whitish, lip within red-brown on sides, mid-lobe yellow with whitish margins, January 16-19, 1952, B. Maguire 33131; Chimantd Massif, 400 m alt., Apacara-tepui, epiphyte in rain forest along Rio Apdcara, on lower part of slender trunk, sepals buff, "petals white in anterior half and streaked maroon in posterior half," lip white, maroon-streaked on sides, cream-color in anterior part, column maroon streaked in lower half and white at apex, March 25, 1953, J. A. Steyermark 74629. BRITISH GUIANA (type of M . Parkeri), COLOMBIA, SURINAM and PERU (type of M. loretoensis). The type of M. lorifolia was from VENEZUELA.
