    Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: 125 km south of El Dorado, in rather tall, moderately damp (not very dense) forest, G. C. K. Dunsterville 493; vecindades de Km 125 al Sur de El Dorado, 1155 m alt., sobre arenisca, epiphyte at base of trees and on sandstone substrata, leaves erect, rich green, subcoriaceous,. inflorescence ascending-spreading, rachis and bracts pale green, sepals and petals without olive green at base and dull brown at apex, within brown with dull green splotches, lip white with pale yellow lateral appendages and magenta-purple crest, column dull orange, December 25, 1963, Steyermark & Dunsterville 92200. Amazonas: Cerro de la Neblina, Rio Yatua, west cumbre, 1850 m alt., terrestrial, flower green mottled with brown, lip white, "the fringe basally yellow, the basal crest pink; column cream, the fringe brown-mottled," December 30, 1953, B. Maguire, J. J. Wurdack & G. S. Bunting 36996; same locality, 1100 m alt., in bottom of Cafion Grande SSW of Cumbre Camp, on tree trunk, flowers green barred with brown, "lip white with basal yellow fringe and pink apicules; column yellow, maroonstreaked," December 24, 1957, B. Maguire, J. J. Wurdack & C. K. Maguire 42479. This species is apparently restricted to VENEZUELA.
