Description:Distribution and Ecology - BRITISH GUIANA. Vicinity of Bartica on the Essequibo River, lat. 6°25' N., flowers white with yellow and purple spots, September 3-12, 1922, J. S. De La Cruz 2000; Pakaraima Mts., Membaru-Kurupung Trail, 1000 m alt., locally frequent in Cunuria forest, terrestrial or low-epiphytic, flowers white, lip with a yellow spot in center and reddish processes at the base, October 29-November 4, 1951, B. Maguire & D. B. Fanshawe 32341. SURINAM. Surinam River, Jodensavanne-Mapane Creek area, on base of shrub, flower white and lip with large yellow spot and purple spots and brown-red hairs at base. May 14, 1953, J. C. Lindeman 3956. VENEZUELA. Bolivar: 102 km from El Dorado, near Sta. Elena, abundant climber in hot moist woods, flowers white, E. Foldats 2675; 97 km south of El Dorado (La Laja), in thin soil on rock and low on trunks of small trees in fairly open woods; also Rio Carrao, in damper conditions in light forest, and in much damper conditions in rather dense forest near foot of Angel Falls, G. C. K. Dunsterville 505. The type was from BRITISH GUIANA.
