Description:Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Amazonas: Cerro Sipapo (Pardque), 600 m alt., near Intermediate Camp, infrequent epiphyte in mixed montane forest, February 2, 1949, B. Maguire & L. Politi 28732 (this collection shows only buds, so the determination is not certain); same locality, 600-1500 m alt., between Intermediate Camp and summit, February 6, 1949, Maguire & Politi 28804; same locality, 124-200 m alt., between Base Camp and open scrub savanna, 3 km southwest of Base Camp, February 8, 1949, Maguire & Politi 28967. A widespread and variable species extending from Mexico through Central America to northern South America (BRITISH GUIANA, type of G. maculata) to BRAZIL and PERU (type of G. quitiquenervis).
