Description:Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Ptari-tepui, along base of east-facing sandstone bluffs, 2410-2450 m alt., in dense mats on face of bluffs, pseudobulb thick, pale green, 10-angled, leaves erect, coriaceous, deep green above and dull green beneath, flowers faintly fragrant, sepals thickly fleshy, pale green with scarious yellowish margins, the outer surface speckled with brown-purple around center, petals slightly thinner, pale green with dull lavender spots within, lip deep yellow with the lavender lobes greenish yellow having rich purple spots, crest in center purple, column whitish above and greenish below, November 7, 1944, J. A. Steyermark 59922 (type); Auydn-tepui, about 1100 m alt., Vareschi 4780a (fide Foldats); same locality, Guayaracas, 1000 m alt., in open forest, G. C. K. Dunstennlle 564; same locality, cumbre de la parte norte de la seccion sur (división occidental del cerro): a lo largo del Rio Churiin al pie de "Second Wall" de arenisca, desde el campamento norte, 5 kms hacia el noreste, 1660 m alt., epiphyte on tree 2.5 m up, in moist mossy riverine forest, pseudobulb subcompressed, olive green, obtusely angled, leaves subcoriaceous, olive green above and paler beneath, inflorescence pendent, sepals yellow, petals yellow with dull maroon spots, lip deep orange yellow-orange at apex with spots on each side and with a magenta-wine-red crest, column creamy white.
