Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Rio Carrao, in light forest near river bank, G. C. K. Dunsterville 360; Phelps Uaipdn-tepui Exped., on banks of Rio Aprada at the mouth of Caño Ambuitir, flowers green to green-lavender, January 24, 1948, K. D. Phelps & C. B. Hitchcock 309 (no flowers seen, so determination uncertain); Cerro Baragudn, on open northernmost slopes, 250-330 m alt., occasional on low trees, flowers green becoming dull yellow and purplish, January 13, 1956, J. J. Wurdack & J. V. Monachino 41227. MEXICO (type of H . sessilis), COLOMBIA and BRAZIL (type of H. Reedii).
