Description:Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Chimantd Massif, southwestern part of Apdcaratepui, 1210-1600 m alt., terrestrial on forested slopes between Camp 3 and Camp 4, leaves membranaceous, rich pale green above and silvery green beneath, pedicels pale green, flowers grass-green, April 15, 1953, J. A. Steyermark 75047; Torono-tepui, 1880-1970 m alt., on northwest-facing forested slopes between Summit Camp and base of escarpment, February 27, 1955, J. A. Steyermark & J. J. Wurdack 1179 (this collection is in fruit, so the identification is uncertain). MEXICO (type of Microstylis excavata) through Central America, south to BRAZIL and ARGENTINA.
