Distribution and Ecology - BRITISH GUIANA. Essequibo River, Moraballi Creek, near Bartica, nearly at sea level, epiphyte, flowers lemon-yellow, September 11, 1929, N. Y. Sandwith 234a (type) ; Arakaka, February 1896, Im Thurn s.n. COLOMBIA. Vaupes: along Rio Kuduyari, near Mitú, in tree in area flooded by 10 ft of water, August 12, 1960, L. A. Garay 98. VENEZUELA. Chimantd Massif, 1000 m alt., on lower southwestern slopes of Chimantd-tepui (Torono-tepui), vicinity of Base Camp, near Rio Tirica, in rich forest, epiphyte on 75358, leaves thickly coriaceous, dull green above and paler beneath, sepals and petals buff-yellow, lip erect, "wine purple-red in upper part, pale yellow below," May 24, 1953, J. A. Steyermark 75571 (flowers smaller than typical).
