Discussion:

Melanospora parasitica Tulasne

This species has long been known as Melanospora parasitica and has been reported as a parasite of various insecticolous imperfects such as Paecilomyces spp., Beauveria bassiana (Bals.) Vuill., Hirsutella floccosa Speare, and Verticil- Hum lecanii (Zimm.) Viegas. This is the second record of S. parasitica on a stroma of a species of Hypocrella; we have seen another collection from French Guiana (Mori & Grade 18386, N Y ). Cannon and Hawksworth (1982: 152).
