Description:Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Chimanta Massif, elfin forest formation on plateau of southeast-facing upper shoulder of Apacara-tepui, at 2000 m alt., "epiphyte on branch; leaves fleshy-coriaceous, pale green; scape brown-purple as are pedicels; calyx [sepals] copper-brick with tawny-yellow margins," June 19, 1953, J. A. Steyermark 75712 (type); Auyan-tepui, cumbre de la parte sureste del brazo noroeste (division occidental del cerro) : faldas sobre piedras igneas, vecindad del "Rio Lomita Camp", 1800 m alt., in dwarf forest along stream, leaves thickcoriaceous, rich green above and paler beneath, 6-7 mm wide, flowers dull purple. May 10, 1964, Steyermark 93612A; same locality, cumbre de la parte norte de la seccion sur (división occidental del cerro) : a lo largo del Rio Churún al pie de "Second Wall" de arenisca, desde el campamento norte, 5 km hacia el noreste, 1660 m alt., in moist riverine forest, epiphyte on tree trunk, flowers purple. May 12, 1964, Steyermark 93773; summit of Auydn-tepui, between Rio Lomita Camp and Angel's plane about 1800 m alt., on trunks and branches of Bonnetia and similar small trees in dense dwarf forest, Cerro Venamo, G.
