Distribution and Ecology - BRAZIL. Rio Branco: Serra Tepequem, northwest escarpment, 1000-1200 m alt., terrestrial saprophyte, flowers salmon, November 23, 1954, B. Maguire & C. K. Maguire 40026. VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Auydn-tepui, 460 m alt., December 1937-January 1938, G. H . H. Tate 1209. A widespread species extending from Florida (U.S.A.), the West Indies (type of Satyrium orchioides) and MEXICO, through Central America to BRAZIL and ARGENTINA.
