Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Auyan-tepui, 2200 m alt., G. H. H. Tate 1239; same locality and altitude, in semi-boggy soil near Boggy Camp, also about 1800 m alt., in dry thin soil in light brush between Drizzly Camp and Rio Lomita Camp, G. C. K. Dunsterville 865; Sororopan-tepui, 2225-2255 m alt., terrestrial, J. A. Steyermark 60052. Southern Florida (U.S.A.), through Middle America, the West Indies (JAMAICA, type of Cranichis oligantha) COLOMBIA, ECUADOR, PERU (type of P. tenuis), BRAZIL, PARAGUAY and ARGENTINA.
