Description
Species Description - Rhizomatous; culms and sheaths strongly compressed at base; stems erect, 3-7 dm; sheaths glabrous; ligule reduced to a zone of short hairs; blades usually conduplicate, 1-3 mm wide, glabrous; infl loose and open, 2-4 times as long as thick; spikelets greenish-drab to purple, 1.5-2 mm; glumes acute, the first scarcely shorter than the second, which nearly or quite equals the acute, minutely puberulent, awnless lemma. Moist pine-barrens; N.J. and Del.; Ga. (Sporobolus t.; S. compressus)
