Description:Distribution and Ecology - BRITISH GUIANA. Kaieteur Plateau, beneath low tree, up to 2 m high, straggling habit, rare, B. Maguire 23380 (flower agglutinated). SURINAM. Tafelberg, Savanna VIII, frequent on open rocks and in thickets, flowers white, B. Maguire 24434a (fruit). VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Mt. Roraima, upper slope, Im Thurn 273; Auyan-tepui, 1850 m alt., G. H. H. Tate 1228; Urimdn, 950-1000 m alt., Bernardi 799; at western end of Sororopan-tepui, Salto de Iwaracaru-merii, 1615 m alt., terrestrial in woods along slopes of waterfall, J. A. Steyermark 60219. Amazonas: Cerro Sipapo (Paraque), occasional in mixed montane woodland near Intermediate Camp, 600 m alt., flowers white, February 2, 1949, B. Maguire & L. Politi 28709 (old fruits only); Mt. Duida, Savanna Hills, Camp Woods, 1300 m alt., terrestrial, 5 ft high, G. H. H. Tate 841, 842 (sterile).
