    Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Chimanta Massif, northwestern part of Abacapatepui, on forested west-facing slopes with sandstone boulders, between Camp 2 and Camp 3, 850-1100 m alt., terrestrial, leaves erect-ascending, pinnately-nerved, membranaceous, deep green above, dull green beneath with a prominent midnerve, ovary purplish, sepals and petals white, with lilac base and mid-nerve, lip lilac, April 18, 1953, J. A. Steyermark 75115; between southeast part of Apacaratepui and west part of Chimanta-tepui (Torono-tepui), in dense forest along the upper rocky reaches of Rio Tirica (left-hand fork), 1700 m alt., terrestrial, flowers white and orchid-colored, lip white with orchid stripes, June 24, 1953, Steyermark 75976. BRITISH HONDURAS, TRINIDAD (type of E. ellipticum) and BRAZIL.
