Description:Distribution and Ecology - VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Mt. Roraima region, headwaters of the Caroni savannas, 1700 m alt., Schomburgk, Im Thurn 46,115, 251; upper slopes of Roraima, McConnell & Quelch 30; Roraima, 2200 m alt., Pinkus 156; Chimantá Massif, in Bonnetia forest, on northwestern part of summit of Abacapa-tepui, 2125-2300 m alt., common terrestrial, stem and fruit rose-purple, leaves erect, glaucous, purplish green and medianly sulcate above and purplish beneath, flower entirely coral-red, April 13, 1953, J. A. Steyermark 74849. Amazonas: Cerro de la Neblina, Rio Vatua, infrequent in west escarpment savanna 2 k m north of Cumbre Camp, 1800 m alt., terrestrial, leaves and stem red-tinged, flowers bright red-orange, January 12, 1954, B.
