    Distribution and Ecology - BRITISH GUIANA. Potaro River, below Kaieteur cataract in fissures of rocks, Jenman 879 (as Selenipedium var. Kaieteurum N.E. Br.). VENEZUELA. Bolivar: Roraima, 1700-2000 m, Schomburgk 727, 1097, Im Thurn 53; Roraima, Arabapu River, McConnell & Quelch 144; Roraima, Kotinga River, Im Thurn 5; Roraima, Arapu River, Im Thurn 31; Roraima, Kako River, Appun 1212; Cerro Guaiquinima, 1300 m alt., Cardona 444, fide Foldats; near (102-120 km from) El Dorado, toward Santa Elena, very abundant in sunny or half-shady places, inflorescences simple or branched, flowers yellow with purple-lined petals, December 27, 1956, E. Foldats 2667; between El Dorado and Santa Elena, (H. Antonio 710) G. C. K. Dunsterville 417; Auyan-tepui, 1800 m alt., E. Foldats 2626; Sororopan-tepui, crest of cerro between east and west ends, 2255 m alt., leaves coriaceous, deep green above, dull green beneath, bracts dull purple, stem and rachis dull purple, sepals dull green with purple stripes prominent on outer surface and dull within, November 14, 1944, J. A. Steyermark 60104. Amazonas: Cerro Sipapo (Paraque), occasional in mixed montane forest near Intermediate Camp, 600 m alt., leaves 6-8, outer perianth [sepals] green, laterals marked with purple, lip greenish, February 2, 1949, B. Maguire & L. Politi 28733. The type of Cypripedium Lindleyanum was from BRITISH GUIANA ("Guayana . Roraima").
