Description:Genus Description - Small trees with the unifoliolate or trifoliolate leaves clustered at the apex of the unbranched stem, the petioles short; leaf blades usually oblanceolate or obovate, entire. Inflorescence a racemiform panicle, free, or united with the costa on the underside of the leaf, the peduncle long, angular. Flowers pentamerous, the sepals free or united in a long, colored tube, as long as or somewhat shorter than the cylindric corolla tube, persistent. Stamens epipetalous, 3 or fewer fertile, the filaments inserted beneath the urceolate, thin-walled disk. Stigma 5-lobed, the style shorter than the corolla, the ovary enclosed by the disk, 5-lobed and 5-celled, each cell with 2 ovules. Segments of the fruit capsular, 2-seeded.
