According to Aublet's account this plant differed from his Eugenia undulata,
by having the leaves thicker and less acuminate, and the fruit black. Specimens at
B M , named E. arivoa, consist of sterile twigs of two different species, neither of which
is recognizable. A similar conclusion was reached by Amshoff (Rec. Trav. Bot. Neerl.
42: 21. 1950).
