For description see Steyermark. This plant is apparently the representative in the Orinoco lowlands of the species-group that includes Eugenia chrysophyllum in the Guiana lowlands, and E. kaieteurcnsis in British Guiana and adjacent Venezuela. It is known to m e from the original cohections only, viz, V E N E Z U E L A .
