For description see Amshoff. Apparently known only from the interior of British Guiana and Suriname. For the present I am referring to this species all the very large-flowered glabrous plants cited below, although two collections (Forest Dept. 4064, 5465) differ from the type in having more broadly rounded and elliptic rather than oblong leaves, with fewer veins, and the lateral veins often somewhat sigmoid. For want of comparative material these identifications are tentative. In Forest Dept. 5465 the buds are 13-17 m m long, including the stipe-like base 2-3 m m long; the pedicels 4-15 m m long; the large calyx-lobes rufous-tomentulose within; the anthers oblong, 1.3 m m long.
