Discussion
In the protologue the type-locaUty was given as merely "in prov. Paraensi," but Schlechtendal (Linnaea 8: 177. 1833) gave it as "ad fluvium Toccantins in Prov. Para." The plant {Sieber, hb. Willd. 10351, at B), which I studied in 1966, apparently belongs to a group of species that are otherwise unrepresented in our area; presumably its relatives are to be sought further south.
