Monographs Details: Calyptranthes multiflora O.Berg

Family:Myrtaceae
Discussion:

At the time of publication of an account of this species in the Flora of Peru (Field Mus. Publ. Bot. 13(4): 605. 1958), I had not seen fruiting material. The following specimens, all apparently typical of the species, bear mature or nearly mature fruit, which is globose, 8-10 m m in diam, "purple-brown" (according to Schultes) or "black, fleshy" (according to Little). The size of the fruit is of some interest, as the berries of related species (C. florifera, C. forsteri) are considerably larger. COLOMBIA.
